Bennington sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-52 victory over Remington on Friday. Given Bennington's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Remington is ranked 177th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bennington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Eli Lawson led the charge by scoring 23 points along with six rebounds. Lawson is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last 12 games he's played. Talan Pickering was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six steals.
Bennington is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Remington, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-8.
