The Immaculate Mustangs will challenge the Pomperaug Panthers at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Immaculate took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Kolbe-Cathedral with a sharp 13-1 victory. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Maddie Costa made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Laurel Pucci was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Caroline Murray, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Immaculate always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kolbe-Cathedral only posted an OBP of .211.
Meanwhile, Pomperaug got themselves on the board against Bassick on Wednesday, but Bassick never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Lions. Considering the Panthers have won five matchups by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Pomperaug's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Immaculate, their win bumped their record up to 3-7.
Everything went Immaculate's way against Pomperaug when the teams last played back in April of 2025, as Immaculate made off with a 13-3 victory. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
