At the plate, Valley View got a massive performance out of Mackenzie Whitlock, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Whitlock a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Ellis, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Valley View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .654. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Memphis only posted an OBP of .100.
Meanwhile, Harding Academy had to kick off their season on the road on March 3rd, but they showed no ill effects. They had just enough and edged out Des Arc 2-1.
Valley View pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Harding Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
