The Chatfield Chargers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their seventh straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 68-67 to Lakewood. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Wednesday (56), Chatfield still had to take the loss.
Several Chargers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tony Rondinelli, who scored 16 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Liam Mcguire was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.
Among those leading the charge was Sam Silburn, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brandon Bazan-Torres, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Chatfield's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-11. As for Lakewood, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chatfield will challenge Columbine at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Columbine is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Lakewood, they will head out on the road to square off against Arvada West at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Arvada West focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Wednesday.
