Even though the Cocoa Beach Minutemen have not done well against the Satellite Scorpions recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Cocoa Beach strolled past Satellite with points to spare, taking the game 52-38. The victory was all the more spectacular given Cocoa Beach's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 481st, while Satellite is ranked 174th).
Jay Matthews continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Max Louis was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 15 rebounds and three blocks.
The win was the fourth in a row for Cocoa Beach, bringing their record for this year to 11-7. As for Satellite, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-5.
Cocoa Beach on the road again on Tuesday and play against John Carroll Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Hopefully John Carroll Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday. As for Satellite, Satellite and West Shore will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
