After both having extra time off, the Poynette Pumas and the Waupun Warriors will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
On Tuesday, Poynette came up short against Lakeside Lutheran and fell 3-1. The Pumas have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
Poynette started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-10, 25-15, 25-23.
Meanwhile, Waupun didn't have quite enough to beat Lake Mills on Tuesday and fell 3-2. While the Warriors didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the L-Cats 25-17 in the first set.
Waupun actually scored more points across those five sets (111-106), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 17-25, 27-25, 27-25, 20-25, 15-11.
Poynette will have to contain Audrey Sanders as she made an impact in Waupun's last game. She had 20 digs and two aces.
Poynette's loss dropped their record down to 8-20. As for Waupun, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 13-7.
