Burges is 9-1 against Andress since October of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Mustangs will look to defend their home court against the Eagles at 6:40 p.m. Andress took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Burges, who comes in off a win.
Burges was handed a three-set defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Canutillo. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
If you add up the scores from across all five sets (101-95) Burges actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 8-25, 22-25, 25-18, 25-22, 15-11.
Meanwhile, Andress was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of El Paso.
Andress took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 26-28, 19-25, 25-20, 15-13.
Andress now has a losing record of 14-15. As for Burges, their victory bumped their record up to 19-8.
Burges beat Andress 3-1 in their previous matchup back in September. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
