After losing to the Milby Buffs the last time they met, the Wisdom Generals decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Wisdom escaped with a win on Thursday against Milby by the margin of a single free throw, 27-26.
Despite the loss, Milby saw an underclassman step up: Ke'lia Smith scored 14 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Smith is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 18 games she's played.
Wisdom's win bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Milby, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season.
Wisdom will be playing in front of their home fans against Waltrip at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Waltrip is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. Milby won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Madison at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Madison has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
