The Topsail Pirates will be playing at home against the Ashley Screaming Eagle at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Topsail managed to keep up with Hoggard until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Topsail was the victim of a tough 62-37 loss at the hands of Hoggard. While losing is never fun, Topsail can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 134th, while Hoggard is ranked 14th).
Meanwhile, Ashley unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Hoggard 45-41. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Ashley in their matchups with Hoggard: they've now lost six in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jaeden Hudson, who scored 14 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Norris, who scored ten points.
Topsail's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-8. As for Ashley, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10.
Topsail skirted past Ashley 54-51 in their previous matchup back in January. Will Topsail repeat their success, or does Ashley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
