If the Abbeville Yellowjackets were feeling good off their 85-55 takedown of the Long Rebels on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Abbeville fell just short of Randolph-Clay by a score of 45-43. Abbeville lost against Randolph-Clay in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 53-46 score last time.
Randolph-Clay was led to victory by Je'Sus Daniels and Jaleen Gibson. Daniels dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Gibson scored 14 points along with three steals.
Abbeville's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8-1. As for Randolph-Clay, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
Abbeville and Ariton will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Ariton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday. As for Randolph-Clay, they will head out on the road to face off against Stewart County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Stewart County: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Randolph-Clay has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
