RED OAK, Texas -
Red Oak (Texas) extended its winning streak to six games with a 28-17 victory over
Sherman (Texas) on Saturday.
The Hawks were up 14-7 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Austin VanHove in the second quarter.
Red Oak expanded its lead to 11 points entering the fourth quarter. RO's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown run by
Cameron Bausley.
VanHove played well for the Hawks in the victory. The senior quarterback threw one touchdown, ran for one touchdown and kicked one extra point. He has now scored three touchdowns on the season.
Dru Smith made a difference for the Bearcats. The senior quarterback threw one touchdown.
Red Oak entered the contest giving up 22.4 points per game this year. RO held firm on the defensive front, and kept Sherman well below the 41.6 points it had been averaging per game.
The loss comes after Sherman defeated Texas 40-23 last week. The loss snapped SHS's 3-game winning streak.
