Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in prep basketball. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2023-24 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Boogie Fland of
Archbishop Stepinac (White Plains) is the 2023-24 New York MaxPreps Player of the Year. The 6-foot-2 senior guard led the Crusaders to a 26-4 record, CHSAA Class AA city title and inaugural PSAL vs. CHSAA AA championship.
For the season, Fland averaged 19.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.4 steals per contest while shooting 46 percent from the field, 36 percent from 3-point range and 83 percent from the free throw line.

Fland scored a career-high 43 points to go along with 11 rebounds in a 60-53 victory over Christ the King in the first round of CHSAA Class AA tournament play. He finished his career with 1,418 points.
Regarded as the No. 25 prospect in the Class of 2024 according to
247Sports, Fland signed with Kentucky in November over offers from Alabama, Auburn, Connecticut, Florida, Kansas, Michigan, North Carolina and Villanova among others.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which will be released April 10.
