The Wallace-Rose Hill Bulldogs will venture away from home to square off against the North Lenoir Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Wallace-Rose Hill barely beat James Kenan the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs blew past the Tigers 9-3 on Friday. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Jansley Page was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Ta'Niya Powell was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.
Meanwhile, North Lenoir got the win against Southwest Onslow on Friday by a conclusive 18-4. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by ten runs or more this season.
Maddie Rouse was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lakyn Whitley, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, two triples, and two stolen bases. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (five). Alyssa Hatcher also deserves some recognition as she hit her first doubles of the season.
North Lenoir kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
The win made it two in a row for North Lenoir and bumps their season record up to 9-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Wallace-Rose Hill, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 3-8.
Wallace-Rose Hill suffered a grim 15-4 defeat to North Lenoir in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
