The Peotone Blue Devils will head out to challenge the Prairie Central Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Peotone has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Peotone will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Streator, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Blue Devils came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bulldogs on Tuesday, sneaking past 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Blue Devils have posted since April 26, 2025.

Sophie Klawitter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up 15 Ks. Those 15 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
On the hitting side, Peotone secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Mary Klawitter, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI.
While Prairie Central didn't have the best season last year (they finished 14-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They had just enough and edged out Bloomington 6-5. Those six runs were actually the fewest the Hawks have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
The team relied heavily on Jules Woodrey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Slagel, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Prairie Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Peotone's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Prairie Central, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Peotone has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Prairie Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
