The Covenant Eagles will take on the Regents Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
On Wednesday, The Covenant made easy work of Hargrave Military Academy and carried off an 11-3 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Latham Clark and Phillip Venton did most of the damage at the plate: Clark went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one double, while Venton scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave Venton a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Pariseau, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.
The Covenant hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Regents, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They blew past Ridgeview Christian 11-1 on Tuesday. Considering the Lions have won four games by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Paul Duval made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Duval was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Matthew Amalfitano, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Joseph Porter was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
The Covenant's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Regents, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. The Covenant has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Regents struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
The Covenant took their victory against Regents when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-1 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
