Brazosport is 1-6 against Stafford since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Brazosport Exporters will be playing in front of their home fans against the Stafford Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Brazosport come in still looking for their first win of the season.
Two Fridays ago, Brazosport had to suffer through a rough 48-7 loss at the hands of Iowa Colony. While losing is never fun, Brazosport can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 830th, while Iowa Colony is ranked 148th).
Meanwhile, Stafford pushed their score all the way to 31 two Fridays ago, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 38-31 to Iowa Colony. Despite 112 more yards than Iowa Colony, Stafford couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Even though the team lost, they still came through with several impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Kamare Shorts, who threw for 204 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Another player making a difference was Jamaal Wiley, who gained 166 total yards.
Brazosport's defeat was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-0 Iowa Colony and 6-0 Silsbee (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 72.7% over those games). As for Stafford, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.
Brazosport came up short against Stafford in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 14-7. Will Brazosport have more luck at home instead of on the road?
