Destin has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. Having just played yesterday, they will head out on the road to face off against the Baker Gators at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Destin comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Destin lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Monday was a bit more commanding. They had to suffer through a rough 50-20 loss at the hands of Freeport. While losing is never fun, Destin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 564th, while Freeport is ranked 261st).
Baker suffered their biggest defeat since November 27, 2023 on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 50-30 walloping at the hands of Walton.
Destin's loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-10. As for Baker, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
