Softball Recap: East Davidson Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

The home team had won the previous four meetings between East Davidson and Thomasville, and East Davidson kept the tradition alive. East Davidson never let Thomasville get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory on Friday. Considering the Golden Eagles have won four matchups by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Nikki Beal was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Beal was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.

In other batting news, Calli Smith was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ivy Trent, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

East Davidson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .962. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

East Davidson's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Thomasville, they are on a 31-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Looking ahead, East Davidson will head out on the road to square off against West Davidson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Davidson will need to watch out since West Davidson has now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Thomasville, they will host Lexington at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lexington has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 20.5 runs per game on average), something Thomasville will no doubt try to take advantage of.
