Burleson had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. Everything went their way against the Seguin Cougars as they made off with a 13-3 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-0 back in March.

The team relied heavily on Lanie Bedwell, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Lola Andrews was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Burleson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Seguin only posted an OBP of .391.

Burleson's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Seguin, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Burleson is set to face off against their familiar foe Centennial at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Elks 2.8, the Spartans 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Seguin will challenge rival Mansfield Timberview at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
