Basketball Game Preview: Compass Academy vs. Stanton Buffaloes

Compass Academy hasn't had much luck against Stanton recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Compass Academy will head out to challenge the Stanton Buffaloes at 6:15 p.m.

Compass Academy is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Tuesday. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 30-24 heartbreaker at the hands of Crane. While Compass Academy didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating Crane 6-2 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Compass Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Peyton Stewart dropped a double-double on 17 points and 21 boards. Stewart is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.

Even though they lost, Compass Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Stanton entered their tilt with McCamey on Friday with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. They blew past the Badgers, posting a 72-42 victory. The Buffaloes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 22 points or more this season.

Stanton pushed their record up to 13-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Compass Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.

Compass Academy suffered a grim 39-17 defeat to Stanton in their previous matchup on Saturday. Can Compass Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
