Clay Center faced Washburn Rural in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Tigers came up short against the Blues, falling 3-0. The Tigers' loss signaled the end of their 12-game winning streak.

While Clay Center was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-14, 25-20.

Raimee Lipker paced Clay Center's offense, picking up 12 kills. Lipker got some help from Raicee Lipker and her 29 assists. Molly McGee controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Clay Center's defeat dropped their record down to 14-2. As for Washburn Rural, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clay Center will square off against Wamego at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Washburn Rural, they will face off against Maize South on the 25th.
