Crowley is 1-7 against St. Martinville since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Crowley Gent will be playing in front of their home fans against the St. Martinville Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Crowley can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 72-37 victory over Erath. The win was nothing new for Crowley as they're now sitting on four straight.
Meanwhile, St. Martinville didn't have too much trouble with Abbeville at home on Friday as they won 64-49. Given St. Martinville's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while Abbeville is ranked 327th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Delian Mallery was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Myri Bernard, who scored 11 points.
Crowley's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-7. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points per game. As for St. Martinville, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-15 record this season.
Crowley ended up a good deal behind St. Martinville when the teams last played back in February of 2023, losing 67-51. Can Crowley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
