The Greater Lawrence Tech Reggies will head out to challenge the Groton-Dunstable Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Groton-Dunstable took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Greater Lawrence Tech, who comes in off a win.
Greater Lawrence Tech had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt North Middlesex Regional on Saturday. The Reggies were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Patriots. Considering the Reggies have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Ayer Shirley hit Groton-Dunstable with a four-run second inning on Sunday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Crusaders came up short against the Panthers, falling 12-5.
Emilie Greenwood put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2025. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kierra Scully made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Emily Kolak, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
The victory (which was Greater Lawrence Tech's third in a row) raised their record to 9-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Groton-Dunstable, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.
Everything went Greater Lawrence Tech's way against Groton-Dunstable when the teams last played back in April, as Greater Lawrence Tech made off with a 14-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Reggies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
