The Richmond Raiders had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.5 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They came out on top against Scotland by a score of 55-47. Given Richmond's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Scotland is ranked 139th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Richmond's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamyia "Juicy" Lindsey, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lindsey has scored at least a third of Richmond's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasiah "JoJo" Gilchrist, who scored 15 points.
Richmond has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Scotland, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-2.
Richmond will head out on the road to challenge Southern Lee at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Southern Lee comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Scotland, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Hoke County at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Hoke County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 last Friday.
