Berkeley and the Cobras are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Berkeley Stags will head out on the road to square off against the Cane Bay Cobras at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Berkeley is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Cobras in South Carolina (the Stags are ranked 36th, while the Cobras are ranked 153rd).
On Friday, Berkeley blew past the Knights, posting a 55-27 win at home. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Berkeley.
Cane Bay proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 29) but on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 52-49 victory over Goose Creek.
Cane Bay's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ella Hill, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds. It was the first time this season that Hill scored 15 or more points. Anai Custodio was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 18 rebounds.
Berkeley has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. Cane Bay's record now sits at 8-15.
Berkeley strolled past the Cobras in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 42-28. The rematch might be a little tougher for Berkeley since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
