The Central Wolves will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Powers Catholic Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Central lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Tuesday was a bit more commanding. They were outmatched by Dow on the road and fell 68-38. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Central has suffered since November 28, 2023.
Meanwhile, Powers Catholic unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 66-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Saginaw. Powers Catholic has not had much luck with Saginaw recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite their loss, Powers Catholic saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jesse Cull, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Kelly, who scored nine points along with 14 rebounds and five assists.
Central's loss was their 11th straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-10. As for Powers Catholic, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-2.
Central didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Powers Catholic in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 74-69 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Central since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
