The Clear Lake Falcons waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Clear Creek 41-38. The victory was all the more spectacular given Clear Lake's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 606th, while Clear Creek is ranked 285th).
Clear Lake had a senior duo take command as Jazmine Klausmeier dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds and Ayah Palomares scored 12 points. Palomares continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Clear Lake is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 11-15 record this season. As for Clear Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-10.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Clear Brook the next time they take the court. Clear Lake will host Clear Brook at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Clear Creek will host them at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
