The Enloe Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight defeat. They suffered a tough 58-33 loss at the hands of Sanderson. While losing is never fun, Enloe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 334th, while Sanderson is ranked 112th).
Enloe's loss came despite strong showings from Gift Moses and Bryson Cousar. Moses dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds, while Cousar scored four points along with three steals.
Leading Sanderson to victory were Nathan Fife and Patrick Dalton. Fife scored 21 points, while Dalton shot 5-for-8 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Fife has scored at least a third of Sanderson's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gordie Balas, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Enloe has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 13 of their last 14 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season. As for Sanderson, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-7.
Enloe will head out on the road to square off against Athens Drive at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Enloe is coming into the game with four straight losses on the road, meaning Athens Drive will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. As for Sanderson, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Broughton at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Sanderson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday.
