The West Grand Mustangs's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Olathe Pirates at 5:30 p.m. on January 25th. Hopefully West Grand focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Saturday.
West Grand suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Saturday. They were outmatched by Vail Christian on the road and fell 74-12. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West Grand in their matchups with Vail Christian: they've now lost six in a row.
West Grand got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Stran Lechman and
Jared Gonzales, who each put up four points.
Meanwhile, Olathe's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 68-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Grand Valley. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
West Grand dropped their record down to 1-9 with that loss, which was their 14th straight on the road. As for Olathe, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.
West Grand came up short against Olathe when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 37-29. Can West Grand avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
