Baseball Recap: Winters Wins Going Away Against Menard

Winters won the last time they faced Menard and things went their way on Friday too. Everything went the Winters Blizzards' way against the Menard Yellowjackets as the Winters Blizzards made off with a 24-15 win.

Diego Rodriguez was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing Four bases. while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances. Rodriguez is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least three every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Winters got a massive performance out of Jonah Whitaker, who scored four runs and stole Four bases. while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Leland Dunham, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-7.

Winters was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .561. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Winters' victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-0-1. As for Menard, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Coming up, Winters will take on Leakey in a tournament on Saturday. As for Menard, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Non Varsity Tournament Opponent at 10:00 a.m. Menard will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
