The Pueblo Central Wildcats had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 37.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They came out on top against Lewis-Palmer by a score of 29-22. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Pueblo Central also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2022.
Pueblo Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Amari Brown led the charge by rushing for 171 yards while picking up 9.5 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Barela, who picked up 184 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Jayden Pagano and Kenton Kenley certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Pagano rushed for 90 yards and three touchdowns, while Kenley threw for 87 yards on nine of 17 attempts.
Pueblo Central's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Lewis-Palmer, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pueblo Central will square off against Harrison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Harrison: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Pueblo Central has snatched up six consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season. As for Lewis-Palmer, they will face off against Sierra at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
