Washougal is 1-9 against Mark Morris since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Panthers will host the Monarchs at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Washougal will bounce into Friday's game after beating Hockinson, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Hawks on Wednesday. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by exactly ten runs.
Meanwhile, Mark Morris put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let Hudson's Bay get on the board and left with a 21-0 win. The Monarchs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by seven runs or more this season.
Makenzie Henthorn and Shyanne Sellers were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Henthorn tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Sellers struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Henthorn has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 13 consecutive appearances. At the plate, Henthorn got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Sellers went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Henthorn also snagged a stolen base, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Megan Fugleberg was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mikaila Warfield, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.
Mark Morris' victory was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-0. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Washougal, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-12.
Washougal might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Mark Morris in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Will the Panthers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
