Basketball Game Preview: Decatur Community Red Devils vs. Trego Golden Eagles

Decatur Community is 2-8 against Trego since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Decatur Community Red Devils will look to defend their home court against the Trego Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Decatur Community is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.4 points per game this season.

Decatur Community will bounce into Friday's game after beating Hill City, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Decatur Community had just enough and edged Hill City out 50-48. While the Red Devils didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Tyler Ostmeyer was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 14 boards. Ostmeyer is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least ten every time he's taken the court this season. Gage Williby was another key player, putting up 11 points along with eight assists and three steals.

Decatur Community smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Trego scored the most points they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They fell 65-54 to Ness City. The Golden Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Trego's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Decatur Community, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
