Softball Recap: Eastwood Snags 19th Victory in Last 22 Games

While Eastwood put up plenty of runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Coronado. The Troopers blew past the Thunderbirds 17-0. The result was nothing new for the Troopers, who have now won 16 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Emma Jauregui made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Jauregui was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Joselyn Echavarria was a standout: she scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Deja Churchill, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Eastwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.

Eastwood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 19 of their last 22 contests. That lines up perfectly with their 28-4-1 record this season. As for Coronado, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-23.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Eastwood is set to take on their familiar foe Montwood at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Troopers 4.1, the Rams 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Coronado will challenge rival Socorro at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
