Nelsonville-York scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat River Valley 76-42 at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 46-22.
Nelsonville-York can attribute much of their success to Briant Call, who scored 22 points along with two blocks, and Keagan Swope, who dropped a triple-double on 14 points, ten assists, and ten steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Call has scored all season. Andrew Conner was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, Vinton County put the finishing touches on their tenth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They blew past Alexander 68-45. Given Vinton County's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 305th, while the Spartans are ranked 827th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Nelsonville-York's win bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Vinton County, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.
Nelsonville-York was taken down by the Vikings 65-38 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Nelsonville-York avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
