Irvin hasn't had much luck against Jefferson recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Rockets will be playing at home against the Silver Foxes at 6:00 p.m. Irvin has given up an average of 16.9 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Irvin came up short against Andress on Tuesday, falling 21-3.
Andrea Orrantia was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Jefferson waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They had just enough and edged out the Scorpions 11-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Silver Foxes have posted since February 19th.
Elizabella Quinonez was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 11 contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Alejandra Rodriguez, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.
Jefferson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .353 or higher in eight consecutive games.
Jefferson's win bumped their record up to 14-1-1. As for Irvin, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Irvin has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .500. However, it's not like Jefferson struggles in that department as they've averaged .661. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Irvin might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Jefferson when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Will the Rockets have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
