Northside Christian has gone a perfect 9-0 against Bradenton Christian recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Mustangs will face off against the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. Northside Christian is coming into the match hot, having won their last nine games.
Northside Christian is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Admiral Farragut an 18-0 shutout. That looming 18-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Mustangs yet this season.
Donovan Fox looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Luke Anderson was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Cox, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Northside Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Bradenton Christian came into Monday's game having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 3-0 victory over Keswick Christian on Monday.
The result came thanks to Garrett Duquette's shutout, as he gave up just three hits.
At the plate, Bradenton Christian saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Holland Hume, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. Those three hits gave Hume a new career-high. Connor Henderson was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Bradenton Christian now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Northside Christian, their record is now 18-8.
Bradenton Christian's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Northside Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .337. It's a different story for Bradenton Christian, though, as they've only averaged .259. Will they be able to contain Northside Christian's hitters?
Northside Christian skirted past Bradenton Christian 5-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2019. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
