Having just played yesterday, the Mullins Auctioneers will jump right back in to play the Darlington Falcons at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Mullins came tearing into Tuesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 70-56 win over Cheraw. Given Mullins' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while Cheraw is ranked 269th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
JJ Davis continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 32 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Mullins' points. Dorrian Hickman was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Darlington ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top against Lee Central by a score of 60-50. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Darlington.
Mullins' win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Darlington, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.
Mullins was taken down by Darlington 81-41 in their previous matchup back in December of 2016. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Mullins was down 48-15.
