The Atlanta Girls' School Hurricanes had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They managed a 36-30 win over Furtah Prep. For Atlanta Girls' School, this counts as revenge for the 44-43 defeat Furtah Prep walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Atlanta Girls' School to victory, but perhaps none more so than Libby Knott, who scored 24 points along with three steals. The game was Knott's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jade Williams, who scored four points along with 17 rebounds.
Atlanta Girls' School pushed their record up to 5-3 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Furtah Prep, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Atlanta Girls' School will take on Notre Dame Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Notre Dame Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Monday. Furtah Prep will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Dominion Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
