The San Diego Vaqueros will be playing at home against the Lyford Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, San Diego's game was all tied up 12-12 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 34-26 victory over Santa Gertrudis Academy.
Jayden Lozano was his usual excellent self, throwing for 200 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Tyler Saenz was another key contributor, picking up 84 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Lyford put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. Everything went their way against Falfurrias as Lyford made off with a 42-21 win. The result was nothing new for Lyford, who have now won three matchups by 24 points or more so far this season.
Aiden Olivas continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 287 yards and two touchdowns on only 17 passes, while also rushing for 84 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was David Caballero, who picked up 200 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped San Diego to 4-1 and Lyford to 6-0.
San Diego ended up a good deal behind Lyford in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, losing 36-20. Thankfully for San Diego, Osmar Martinez (who threw for 316 yards and three touchdowns on only 19 passes, and also rushed for 142 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
