O'Connor and Brandeis are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Panthers will be playing at home against the Broncos at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. O'Connor will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
While O'Connor's win against Holmes wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Huskies on Friday.
Ryan Zaiontz tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because O'Connor is 3-0-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-13-2 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Marcus Morales, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Rudy Perez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Brandeis came up short against Madison on Friday and fell 5-1.
Brandeis also got a good showing from Christian Rodriguez, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Rodriguez gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in March.
On the hitting side, Brandeis saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grayson Hallmark, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Brandeis' defeat dropped their record down to 15-9. As for O'Connor, their win bumped their record up to 7-13-3.
O'Connor came out on top in a nail-biter against Brandeis in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Broncos have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
