After a string of three wins, The Manchester Township Hawks''s good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 20-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ocean Township. The match was a 7-7 toss-up at halftime, but Manchester Township was outscored by Ocean Township in the second.
Despite the loss, Manchester Township had strong showings from Aidan Lunn, who rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown, and Marquis Goins jr, who picked up 91 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Even if they lost, Manchester Township's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Ocean Township's QB won't forget Anthony D'Antonio anytime soon given D'Antonio sacked him four times.
Manchester Township's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Ocean Township, their win bumped their record up to 5-5.
Manchester Township will be playing at home against Pinelands Regional at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pinelands Regional is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Ocean Township, they will head out on the road to face off against Hopewell Valley Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopewell Valley Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Ocean Township likes a good challenge.
