While Goldsboro's victory against Faith Christian Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cougars skirted past the Conquerors 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since April 25, 2024.

Brayden Smith made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Smith was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Avery Grant, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Goldsboro's record now sits at 6-11. As for Faith Christian Academy, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Goldsboro will challenge American Leadership Academy-Johnston at 5:00 p.m. on the 24th. As for Faith Christian Academy, they will take on Jacksonville Christian Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Jacksonville Christian Academy has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.33 runs per game on average), something Faith Christian Academy will no doubt try to take advantage of.
