The Lac qui Parle Valley Eagles will challenge the Yellow Medicine East Sting at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Lac qui Parle Valley barely beat Dawson-Boyd the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles put the hurt on the Blackjacks with a sharp 13-1 victory on Thursday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Blackjacks recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Meanwhile, Yellow Medicine East made easy work of Lakeview on Thursday and carried off a 12-4 victory. With that win, the Sting brought their scoring average up to 7.2 runs per game.
Bayli Sneller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That double was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alana Almich, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Nelson, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Yellow Medicine East kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Lac qui Parle Valley pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Yellow Medicine East, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Lac qui Parle Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Yellow Medicine East in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 7-6. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Sting turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
