Softball Recap: Arp Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Arp waltzed into their contest on Monday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Sabine Cardinals a 15-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-0 last Tuesday.

Addison Carpenter made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in February. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in February.

In other batting news, Chloe Gerald was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Addie Anderson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Arp always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sabine only posted an OBP of .267.

Arp pushed their record up to 21-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Sabine, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Coming up, Arp will be playing in front of their home fans against Douglass at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sabine, they will head out to square off against Gladewater at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gladewater has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.7 runs per game on average), something Sabine will no doubt try to take advantage of.
