Baseball Recap: North Sand Mountain Has No Trouble Against Sylvania

North Sand Mountain's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. Everything went their way against the Sylvania Rams as the North Sand Mountain Bison made off with a 15-8 victory. The Bison have beaten the Rams the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Rams has come to flipping the script.

Luke Reed and Mikey Poss were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Reed pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Poss pitched two innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. At bat, Reed scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Poss scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaxson Stiles, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Landon Keller, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

North Sand Mountain kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sylvania onlymanaged five hits.

The win got North Sand Mountain back to even at 1-1. As for Sylvania, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, North Sand Mountain will face off against Hanceville at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Sylvania, they will challenge Pisgah at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
