Bishop Ready has gone a perfect 6-0 against Whitehall-Yearling recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Silver Knights will host the Rams at 5:15 p.m. Bishop Ready has given up an average of 12.2 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Bishop Ready is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Highland on Thursday. They lost 16-1 to the Fighting Scots.
Meanwhile, Whitehall-Yearling came into Thursday's game having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Everything went their way against Harvest Prep on Thursday as they made off with a 17-9 win. The Rams not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 21st (when they won 19-1).
Aubree Waites and Mia Latham made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Waites struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Latham struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits. Waites has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Waites went 2-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base, while Latham got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. With that strong performance, Latham is now averaging an impressive 2.1 runs per game.
In other batting news, Whitehall-Yearling let Vanessa Brown and Aubrie Deschaine run wild. Brown got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Deschaine got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases Brown has posted since back in March. Elena Pablo was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Whitehall-Yearling's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Bishop Ready, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bishop Ready has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Whitehall-Yearling struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Bishop Ready was able to grind out a solid win over Whitehall-Yearling in their previous meeting back in March, winning 13-8. Will the Silver Knights repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
