Basketball Recap: Marcus Seroyer Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat St. John's Northwestern Military Academy

Heritage Christian won the last time they faced St. John's Northwestern Military Academy and things went their way on Monday too. The Heritage Christian Patriots came out on top against the St. John's Northwestern Military Academy Lancers by a score of 73-66. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.

Heritage Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marcus Seroyer, who posted 20 points in addition to eight steals and six rebounds. Those eight steals gave Seroyer a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eddie Riebe, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards.

Heritage Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

St. John's Northwestern Military Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mamadou N'Diaye, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. N'Diaye has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more boards the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of James Visocky, who earned 19 points and five rebounds.

Heritage Christian's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for St. John's Northwestern Military Academy, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Kingdom Prep Lutheran the next time they take the court. St. John's Northwestern Military Academy will head out to face Kingdom Prep Lutheran at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, while Heritage Christian will host them at 7:15 p.m. on February 4th.
