It was a good run, but the Jenkins County War Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Portal by a score of 36-34. Jenkins County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Portal apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Portal to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elijah Coleman, who threw for 143 yards and four touchdowns while completing 82.4% of his passes. Samari Mcbride also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Jenkins County's defeat dropped their record down to 10-1. As for Portal, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jenkins County will take on Charlton County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Portal, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Turner County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
