The Pine Lake Prep Pride and the Burns Bulldogs squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Pine Lake Prep Pride had to settle for second. Pine Lake Prep was outmatched by Burns on the road and fell 63-34. Pine Lake Prep was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-21.
Despite the loss, Pine Lake Prep still got an impressive performance from Braden Gower, who picked up 211 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Cam Gandy was another key contributor, throwing for 258 yards and two touchdowns.
Jeremiah Norris got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 257 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries, and also picked up 83 receiving yards and a touchdown. Elijah Goodson and his 83 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Burns' win.
Pine Lake Prep are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-4. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Burns, Community School of Davidson, and Corvian Community. As for Burns, they have yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 8-4 record.
Pine Lake Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Burns will head out on the road to face off against Bunker Hill at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bunker Hill is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
